National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a hectic, and sometimes stressful period for authors who participate. This is a support page for the writers on this site who are participating this year. Finishing the 50,000 word novel in just thirty days is more than an accomplishment, it is a feat not attained by many. To improve the standards, quality and completeness of your novel, I am writing these words and giving you this area to rally. Each day, I will take time out from my novel, and post an inspirational quote. Please take these quotes to heart, don't give up, just keep writing. Even if it is the most boring piece of work ever, it it makes no sense, 50,000 is still an accomplishment and a journey. HERE WE GO!

Day One

Here we go again!

Day one of thirty, with 50,000 to go. I hope everyone is ready this year! I'll be writing a teen novel, which is a new arena for me. I can't wait to hear what you are all doing!

[Ash]

When the November challenges end, each participant will be awarded according to the standards set here:

Victim – Failed to meet the challenge. (Less than 47,000 words or less than 28 characters)

Survivor – Close enough, but not quite. (47,000–49,999 words or 28–29 characters).

Lived – Good job, you earned it. (50,000–54,999 words or 30–33 characters).

Dominated – You're f-ing crazy. (55,000+ words or 34+ characters).

Good luck and don't die.

2010-11-06 [Ash]: Keep it up Annie! If you are writing in third person, one person quips will help get up your word count and distinguish characters. I do my inner monologues in italics.

2010-11-06 [Annie]: Haha, thanks! One person quips...good idea. I love inner monologues.

2010-11-06 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: Yeah, for me it's just about typing, and not really worrying about the word count. If you just keep typing and typing, not worried about how much you're typing, then you get to the count you need before you know it.

2010-11-06 [Veltzeh]: Yay! I haven't actually drawn anything yet; I've been writing character bios, and I'd post the page they're on if Elftown was up. Alas, it isn't. Except it is now!
Is the log thing like what I did each day? If so, here goes:
Day 1: I managed to write up bios for two characters, Verkije (http://elftown.eu/_Veltzeh%27s%2030%20characters%202010#character1) and the sword-tree (http://elftown.eu/_Veltzeh%27s%2030%20characters%202010#character2).
Day 2: Wrote up another character, Lehahel (http://elftown.eu/_Veltzeh%27s%2030%20characters%202010#character3).
Day 3: Sothalen (http://elftown.eu/_Veltzeh%27s%2030%20characters%202010#character4) is (almost) finished, just in time before the day changed. Cough.
Day 4: Totally didn't do anything.
Day 5: Was very busy with block specification.

2010-11-06 [Veltzeh]: [Ash]: sure you can join after November 1! It's not like even I have signed up on that 30 characters website (well, aside from the fact that Firefox thinks it's suspicious, I don't see a need to post my characters there, heh). This place and Elftown is just fine. :)

2010-11-06 [Veltzeh]: This is the nightmare application of every nano writer: http://www.veh.fi/ekstraa/wrimolaskuri/
It's in Finnish, so allow me to translate the key phrases:
– Juuri nyt kirjassasi pitäisi olla kirjoitettuna X sanaa. = Right now you should have X words written in your book.
– Seuraavaan sanaan = Time until next word
– Nanowrimon kokonaistilanne = Total nanowrimo word count
I'm pretty sure it operates on Finnish time, but you get the idea. :D

2010-11-06 [Annie]: LOL Veltzeh that's hilarious...and completely horrifying lol. >.< Time is ticking away... D:
I love your charracter specs; I especially love how you replace words like he/his etc, very creative!
And Tyr, ya...I've noticed that as well. I admit though, I'm having a harder time with a fiction nano than a nonfiction one. I've written a lot of creative nonfiction and I prefer it...I always feel silly writing fiction. My main problem is that I run out of stuff for my characters to do. I basically wing every action lol. But that's exactly why this is good practice!

2010-11-06 [Annie]: Hey all, just thought I'd follow [Veltzeh]'s suit and post my progress. So I've created a place for it in my writings and added the location here.
Just thought it might be fun for anyone interested to put up their progress and get ideas/suggestions/praise (just praise if that's all you want :P) from the rest of us here. I know I always love hearing other people's impressions/ideas.

2010-11-06 [Veltzeh]: [Annie]: Wow, it's awesome that you like the pronouns. :) So many of my characters don't have a traditional sex that I just use those gender-neutral ones for everybody.

2010-11-06 [Annie]: Day six: It's my boyfriend's birthday today and he was at a party most of the morning so I had plenty of time to do some writing and catching up (I couldn't go to the party). Made some awesome progress. ^_^ Tally-ho!

2010-11-06 [Veltzeh]: Day 6: It snowed in the morning, which marked the last day to rake the leaves from the yard. Therefore, I spent hours raking instead of writing about characters or drawing them. Then I spent the rest of the day designing blocks. Damned onerous schoolwork. At least I like the designing. :)

2010-11-07 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: Day 6: Woke up, wrote some, went out for family stuff, got LOTS of free food (the best kind), went shopping, came back, finally broke the necessary word count (by over 90!), gonna work on editing a book now for my anniversary.

Figured I'd jump on the bandwagon <_< And that timer? Priceless.

2010-11-07 [Ash]: Day Seven: I think I'm going to start that character thing today than. Also, Day 6 at 12:30 AM, my computer got a virus, and it wasn't fixed to 1:30 PM, a huge delay for Nano! I must press on, keep up the writing and the drawing! I'm thinking badges on WC for finishing each contest!

2010-11-07 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: Cool beans. and I'd do the character thing, but meh on that. I've got too much else to do right now. I COULD make a last minute entry of about 30 characters if I find I have the time, but I'm not really going to worry about it either way. Mostly because coming up with characters is easy enough for me, just so long as I sit down and do it.

I love making characters, but I've just got hell as far as schoolwork to do before I can accept taking on ANOTHER competition.

In lighter news: 12k!

2010-11-07 [Annie]: Oo badges! That sounds awesome [Ash]. ^_^
I love the 30 characters thing but definitely not going to do it myself. I'm totally buried in work and life right now, barely managing to squeak out enough words for NaNo (and not quite that as we can see :P). But I am looking forward to Script Frenzy in April. ;) It's April isn't it? I think so.

2010-11-07 [Veltzeh]: Day 7: I spent the entire day (specifically 9,5 hours) designing blocks and still didn't get them done! Gaaah!

2010-11-07 [Ash]: Don't worry Veltzeh, you'll get them done, one day it'll just hit you, but hopefully not like something hard. :)

2010-11-07 [Ash]: I have added a separate section for 30C/30D.
Good luck everyone!

Remember, a good pace for NaNo is 2,000 words, a good pace for 30 days would be 1 a day or slightly more. Keep up the good work, at day seven, you should be at 14,000 words and seven characters!

2010-11-07 [Veltzeh]: No no, I mean I didn't get the blocks done. The characters would come easily (or so I hope) if I just had the time! X)

2010-11-07 [Annie]: You're not alone Veltzeh...

Day seven: I've spent the entire day thus far doing homework. And hating it the whole time.

2010-11-08 [Ash]: Homework? That sucks, but I know the feeling. I have to go post on one of my classes, but the thing is, the teacher ALWAYS has to be right about opinions. It's an opinion! It's not right or wrong, it's just what you think... grr...

2010-11-08 [Annie]: Lol, ya! That's dumb. I hate professors like that.

2010-11-08 [Ash]: I love having them in class because then I argue my point out and am able to get someone else behind me, but now with online I can't do that. Oh well, I've only five more weeks of him than I'm done.

2010-11-08 [Ash]: Day eight: I have started early as something unforseen has happened yesterday. My boyfriend had a death in the family so now I have to make sure I have extra time for him if he needs to talk. Besides that, I will be making several more updates to this page and start working on badges. I would like to think I can get all of this done, pus 3k today, but who knows. Let me work efficently but I know if I do, I'll get tired at some point and go 'FU novel' and quit. I hope I am able to make it through, I have just added a new character and am developing a relationship, and that only needs to take me to 35,000 words before I get back to the major plot.

2010-11-08 [Annie]: Aw..sorry to hear that Ash. Wishing him well.

2010-11-08 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: Well <_< I feel like I missed a lot.

Day 7 was spent with doing what I already detailed, and then ending up at just over 14k by about 8 pm. I didn't update here because I didn't have internet til nearly midnight, but that's life so yeah.

Sorry about the bad stuff, Ash. *much hugs* I do hope it all works out, and I'm sure it will. Things tend to for good people ^_^

Also, as far as opinions go, Professors are often paid for their opinions, and, depending on what the subject is, opinions can be wrong <_<... not saying yours are, just saying that are a few wrong opinions out there...

Then again, I'm a martyr...

2010-11-08 [Ash]: Thanks guys.

My professors main thing is very reverse racist, basically saying minorities can't help themselves at all. I think that if they work hard enough and came together as a community and sought help from their cities they can do well.

2010-11-08 [Veltzeh]: Day 8: I'm stuck at 4 characters and after 7 hours of designing, still didn't get the blocks finished, though the system is almost done. There's something fundamentally wrong in having so much schoolwork that there isn't time to do any other schoolwork on time, even after requesting and getting an extension of the deadline.
And I'm not even studying as many courses as I should be!

2010-11-08 [Ash]: There must be something wrong with that class than. Try to ask your teacher for help.

2010-11-09 [Annie]: Lol or do like I do...collapse under the weight of life! :P

2010-11-09 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: OR... we could kill president...
Of Uranus.
Because that guy's a real bastard...

I'm not sure how this would help with your schoolwork, but it'd sure make the people of northern Uk'kkal'llu with their overtaxation.

In lighter news
Day 8: Wrote very little so far, but it is only 7:32 PM here, so there's still time. My main contributing factor to my lack of wordcount is the insanity of my school catching up to me. 2 papers due tomorrow, my graduation application too, not to mention all of the other things I should be doing like typing up about 15 different poems right now. Joy of joys...
More later, and hopefully a much bigger wordcount by tomorrow.

2010-11-09 [Annie]: Oo good luck with your graduation application...I was doing that this same time a year ago..stressful times.

2010-11-09 [Annie]: Day eight: Woohoo! I finally hit the 1/5 mark! Better late than never! :D
This week is killing me. A test, a 5-page paper, a team project that requires extensive research and travel about town as well as meeting outside class (bleh to group projects), a midterm project in accounting that is completely convoluted and confusing, a court case for business law to attend and do a write up on, and Wednesday is my anniversary. >.< Only managed to eke out minimum words today because I wrote during class.
In more thrilling news...if you hadn't seen it before, NaNo has this awesome word count widget page with all kinds of stuff you can stick just about anywhere, even your WC profile. I put one on mine..it's super fun to look at. ^_^ Check it out:
http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/widgets

2010-11-09 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: =O Wednesday is your Anni too?!
Holy crap, double irony <_< [Annie] and I have the same anni... <_< Good thing that's not your real name, eh?

And cool beans. Everyone loves widgets. Widgets makes me happeh.

2010-11-09 [Annie]: Yours is Wednesday? I thought you just had yours...Woohoo for coincidences! :) and lol..yes, good it's not my real name...

2010-11-09 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: Also, Tyr can't figure out how to use his widget <_< It sucks. Tyr thought he knew how, but he's a failure v_v Can someone please help the Tyr?

2010-11-09 [Annie]: If you're trying to put it in your WC profile, you need to just adjust the link a tad. They have "<img src=" at the beginning and you need to replace it with "<img:" instead. ^_^ Oh and because you're you, you need this number in it... 700888.

2010-11-09 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: Right... I think I just needed the colon. I left the equals sign in the equation, which probably screwed me over. Darnit. I knew I was just missing one small thing...

thanks Annie! *hugs*

2010-11-09 [Annie]: Haha, no problem. ^_^

2010-11-09 [Veltzeh]: Day 9: AARGH BLOCKS.

2010-11-09 [Ash]: Day 9: it's 4:30 PM and I am just starting writing for the day. I spent the morning sick and cleaning, not the best combination. Hopefully I will be able to hit 17,500-18,000 today getting me closer to my schedule. Time will tell if I make it through, because apparently I need to go through and add more, I'm even setting 10,000 aside as that much needs to be the end of the plot. Difficult I know, hopefully I will make it through.

2010-11-10 [Annie]: Day 9: Another busy day in school-not-NaNo land. At least there's hope for my test tomorrow and I know I'll pass my group accounting project. Woohoo! But alas...no words on NaNo.

2010-11-10 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: Day 9: Wrote surprisingly little today, but that's not my fault. I blame Cleveland... even if it never did anything to me. I'm always surprised at Ash's wordcount and, more importantly, why she plans out how many words to spend on things <_< It makes me terribly nervous that my first 16k have mostly just been a joke and that soon I'll meander into 'blah for 2k' land.
Of course, this is NaNo, so I can writes however I feels like I shoulds. ^_^

P.S. Life is a biplane, only two brothers ever got it Wright.

2010-11-10 [Ash]: Love your PS Tyr. It's awesome... I hope you don't mind, I'm putting it as my FB status.

2010-11-10 [Veltzeh]: Day 10: The blocks, they are DONE. I think tomorrow I'll just make a D&D character or something. >_>

2010-11-10 [Ash]: Oh, you can talk with my boyfriend then, he's making a shadowcaster or something like that.

2010-11-11 [Ash]: Day 10: I was able to get to 18,000+ today before my hand began to hurt. I also drew to my fifteenth character, today's drawings are all dumb, but they are cute and some are funny. Hopefully I will be able to post them all tomorrow as it's getting late for me. Good luck to everyone, we are one-third of the way done!

2010-11-11 [Veltzeh]: Day 11: Finally! This time I didn't write much, but drew instead: http://elftown.eu/stuff/aj/57/1289481999.png

2010-11-11 [Annie]: Day 10: Was my 6-month anniversary. Although I wrote some at school, I didn't type it in time to count for day 10...so it goes toward my growing backlog as of day 11. >.<

2010-11-11 [Annie]: Hey all, I have a NaNo tradition of making a wordle with my novel every year...it's fun to look at...also convenient for coming up with a title if you haven't yet, for the whole novel or for just each chapter. It's a fun tool. ^_^ If you've never tried it, www.wordle.net. You can paste unlimited text. :D

2010-11-11 [Veltzeh]: Day 11: I drew another one! http://elftown.eu/stuff/aj/57/1289504711.png

2010-11-11 [Ash]: Love your new character Veltzeh, you're such a wonderful artist!

2010-11-11 [Ash]: Day 11: I haven't written yet today, maybe I will later tonight, I'm just so worn out from writing, drawing, cleaning and helping my boyfriend get ready for the funeral. I can feel how tired my eyes are. I'm thinking of doing one of my quote sessions. I sit there and just concentrate on the characters then apply them to the situation until they begin talking in my head. It's worked wonderfully in my past writings. I am only hoping to do some 500 words tonight, keep it light and not pressure myself.

2010-11-12 [Annie]: Day 11: Typed up my words from yesterday and added about 100.

2010-11-12 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: Day 11: My life is a mass of trainwreckage without the trains... or the wreckage part... In fact, it's going pretty well. Really well.
I'm a day.5 behind on my 2k/day conquest of the world, but that's what weekends without my now 2-year girlfriend are for <_<

That's right. TWO years. No sex.
Virgin pride.
Go Griz!

Oh... and something about bagels. Blueberry bagels.

P.S. I gotta blender. I gotta blender. I gotta blender, HEY! HEY! HEY HEY!

2010-11-12 [Veltzeh]: Thanks, [Ash]. :3

2010-11-12 [Ash]: Tyr, a side note. Remember to make sure you are sexually compatible before you marry. It's one of the biggest reason for divorce along with 'we just don't get along anymore'. Just a hint of life.

2010-11-12 [Ash]: WORD COUNT CHECK: By day's end Novels should be at 20,000 for Nano to finish on the 30th (if you go 2k a day then 24,000). For writersco to win you need to by at 18,800 by days end. There is plenty of time, go finish your novel no matter how good it is, it's a month novel, it's just supposed to hit the word count!

CHARACTER COUNT CHECK: By day's end for the 30c/30d you should be at 12, for writersco you can be at 10 or 11.

2010-11-12 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: I'll sexually your compatible. Some of us are people, and I'm not going to get into an argument about any of this here, so that's life.

Also, why are we lowering the word/character count for WC winning? <_< Seems like a way to cheat death if you ask me...

2010-11-12 [Ash]: Well, let's face it 50k is a lot, so if you get 50 you win NaNo, if you get 47k you win the Writersco November Challenges (as we realize people have lives), but lose NaNo. Anyway, it's 3,000 words, it's still an amazing accomplishment and I feel you shouldn't get a big loser stamp on your forehead if your a couple thousand words short. It's not cheating death, it is not the original count, but I have school, you have school, veltzeh has school, Annie has school. Lets face it, that's a lot to cope with, it's just a bit easier and recognizes that you did have quite a run, even if you didn't get there. If you do, you win NaNo and you get a different badge than those who just plain won on WC. I still feel you should get something for it.

2010-11-13 [Annie]: Day 12: Wrote like a maniac trying to catch up after my week of busy-ness. With amazing support I wrote 10,000 words today woohoo!! Amazing success! I am now officially caught up...now let's just see if I can keep it that way haha...

2010-11-13 [Veltzeh]: Day 12: I had an RPG, so I didn't get to write or draw much much. We were planning a new campaign, though, and I came up with a character for it: http://elftown.eu/_Veltzeh%27s%2030%20characters%202010#character7
I don't particularly like it, though, so I probably won't use it.

2010-11-13 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: Pah, for not liking it. It's a character! Go for it man, go!
Oh, and something about WOW for Annie and her amazingness. 10k in one day? I wish <_<

2010-11-13 [Ash]: Way to go Annie! Just remember to breath between paragraphs. That's an amazing jump! Keep it up, everyone!

2010-11-13 [Ash]: A late day 12: I got some writing done in the morning, however the rest of the day was spent cleaning and out of town, which was not my happy place. I plan on getting stuff done today, and not just characters. We are two days away from half the month, we need to be slowly approaching our finish, thinking of what the end is going to be, and slowly writing little details down as notes for it.

2010-11-13 [Veltzeh]: Tyr, I'll just make another, better and more likable one! :D More characters that way!

2010-11-13 [Annie]: Thanks everyone! ^_^ :D

2010-11-13 [Ash]: Don't thank us, your the one who put up the stellar word count. I haven't logged that many words in one day in five years.

2010-11-13 [Ash]:

PLEASE: put your daily logs here: NaNoWriMo Support: Daily Logs. All your old logs have been moved over! It is now easier to log and to read old logs from everyone!

2010-11-14 [Annie]: Haha, well I meant thanks for the congrats. ;) It was quite the effort...took me a few hours and I was pretty much out of ideas at 19000 words lol. Had to squeeze out another thousand on hot air.

Oh and awesome work on the daily log page! Must have taken you awhile to get all those comments collected...

2010-11-14 [Ash]: Only about ten minutes, one of the options is to go to the beginning so it was pretty easy. Now everything will be a lot smoother and not look so jammed packed.

I know what you mean about the out of thin air. I assigned a word count to my chapters in excel and if they didn't meant the word count they get edited to meet it. It's really helping, I edited another 1000 into different chapters.

2010-11-15 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: ... <_< Although I think it's crazy how you do it, Ash, good luck with it.

I've logged just about 5k today, and that's with plenty of breaks. One day I'll do the amazing Annie thing, but that day is not today! Unless the next four hours is spent typing so furiously that I kill someone <_< But yeah... Go daily log page.

Also, anyone else notice how cool I was having posted for the 21st the other day? <_< I'm so awesome.

2010-11-15 [Ash]: *pats tyr on head* It's okay... you can be awesome in your own right.

Thanks for the luck, it's working out so far. :)

2010-11-15 [Annie]: Haha..I didn't even notice you posted for the 21st...and lol..the Annie thing...
I like the drawings Veltzeh!

2010-11-15 [Veltzeh]: Thanks. :)

2010-11-16 [Tyr Zalo Hawk]: Another great day for the Tyrster. Rock on mah homies, keep the NaNo strong in your hearts.

2010-11-16 [Annie]: Whee for badges!! :D :D

2010-11-17 [Annie]: I love our little community...I just wanted to say that. ^_^ -feeling the holiday season-

2010-11-17 [Ash]: Me too. Our community is awesome.

2010-11-18 [Annie]: Hope you don't mind Ash but I added a link to the Daily Logs page at the top of this page...for convenience. ^_^

2010-11-18 [Ash]: Oh yea, I've been meaning to do that. :P

2010-11-18 [Annie]: Haha ya...just noticed it a couple times and thought it would fit nicely there. :)

2010-11-18 [Ash]: :)

2010-11-18 [Veltzeh]: I just remembered this wikipage: Remember the Little Words! I added a recent pet peeve of mine to the end of the list. ;)

2010-11-18 [Annie]: Oo, I can't say that I've ever seen that page. Nice to know!

2010-11-18 [Veltzeh]: There's a ton of old wikipages lying around, we can try to find some use for them. :)

2010-11-18 [Annie]: We definitely should. I think I'll had a few things to that page. There are a lot of index pages that the front page links to as well that I definitely think need updating. They're useful and new members totally check them out. New members don't really have any other source of reference or index pages to find out about stuff like staff and contests. If all our front page index pages are archaic, people get the impression the whole site is. I've been trying to update them here and there.

2010-11-21 [Ash]: Maybe we should make a side box labeled: "New Members Section" and put pages they would be interested in. Why don't we continue this discussion on the Staff page?

DAYS LEFT TO WRITE/CREATE

2010-11-24 [Annie]: Daily count adding immense stress...

2010-11-25 [Ash]: It's just to keep reminder. Just sit down and get down a couple thousand, you'll be fine Annie.

2010-11-25 [Annie]: Ya, hopefully :P

2010-11-27 [Annie]: You know what would be awesome? A write-out for the WC folk. We could create a chat room like Veltzeh described on the WC To-Do page and everybody could come into the chat room for a couple hours or something while we have a write-out session. It could be at a mutually convenient time on Sunday or Monday. It could be a time for everybody to write with each other's company, take breaks here and there to chat a bit, and try to catch up on however many words they may be behind by.
I checked it out and you can actually just stick a widget on a wiki page. It's super easy. I made an account and I could create such a page...let me know what you all think.

2010-11-27 [Ash]: I'm in. The thing is we are all in different time zones, we'll have to pick one and schedule accordingly. Why don't you go ahead and make the wiki page, Annie.

2010-11-27 [Annie]: Okie dokie. Woot! And yeah...how does EST sound? That's New York and such.

2010-11-27 [Annie]: The page is up! Just need to decide on a time now. :) NaNoWriMo Write-Out.

2010-11-27 [Ash]: Well, I'll hop on over. Just finished my school work, man, there's too much to do there.

2010-11-30 [Ash]: Yeah! Go Annie! More words for everyone! *starts tossing random words in the air*

2010-11-30 [Annie]: Haha...whee!

2010-11-30 [Ash]: Current quote: Holy shit it's tomorrow. That's right it's d-day... damn it...

2010-11-30 [Annie]: DONE! :D

2010-11-30 [Ash]: Nice job Annie. :D

2010-11-30 [Annie]: Thanks :) Can't believe I made it...

2010-12-01 [Annie]: Great job with the support page by the way Ash. It was a wonderful idea and a great success! :)

2010-12-01 [Ash]: :)

2010-12-01 [Veltzeh]: The numbers need some updating there. X) Nevertheless, congratulations to everyone who got at least something done!

2011-09-27 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Is this going to be active once November is around again? I'd like to try it out even though November is going to be one of the busiest months of my life. I don't know how far I'd get but I can always try.

2011-09-30 [Ash]: Yes, it is! I'm actually going to start the NaNo prep page soon to make NaNoWriMo the easiest it can be for everyone participating! :) I'll clear last year's info so we can get ready for this go around!

2011-09-30 [Ash]: Remember to register at http://www.nanowrimo.org !

2011-09-30 [Annie]: Looking forward to another fun-filled NaNo support page ^_^

2011-09-30 [Ash]: Introducing NaNo Prep! NaNo Prep is here to help you plan your NaNo while following all the rules of NaNo!

2011-09-30 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Okay, thanks for all of the info. My first time so wasn't sure what it was all about :D I think I'd like to do it.

2011-10-01 [Ash]: Don't forget to officially register. :) If you win, they give you a spiffy certificate!

2011-10-01 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Oh cool! I think I did...I got signed up there.

2011-10-02 [Annie]: We can add you as a buddy if we know your username. :)

2011-10-02 [Ash]: My handle is Akivos

2011-10-02 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Shnlynne :D

2011-10-02 [Product of a Primal Urge]: I think I found you [Ash].

2011-10-02 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Also, you still have it up as "2010".

2011-10-02 [Annie]: I'm honulii on there, just added you! :) Woo! Will we be including the participants of 30 Characters again?

2011-10-03 [Product of a Primal Urge]: I added you both!
So that 30 character thing you're talking about, do they have to be very involved characters or just there at times?

2011-10-03 [Annie]: Oh no, 30 Characters is actually a separate challenge where you draw and describe 30 different unique characters in a span of 30 days. I was just asking because that's how Veltzeh participated last year, and I wanted to put it out there again in case Veltzeh was watching quietly and wanted to participate again this year. ;)

2011-10-03 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Oh! Yeah, that sounds fun. I'm not great at drawing but it could get more people involved here that don't necessarily want to write :D

2011-10-03 [Annie]: Ya, it's kind of connected since creating characters is an important part of writing. :)

2011-10-03 [Veltzeh]: I've been thinking of doing 30 characters again, because no way will I have enough time to write much anything. I'm mostly worried that I won't even have time for the characters. Of course I can cheat and just draw something random since I can draw fast, but that's not really a real character, I need all the background and stuff! X)

And yeah, one can do 30 characters by drawing or writing. That's an inclusive "or"; I did both ways last time. http://elftown.eu/_veltzeh%27s%2030%20characters%202010

2011-10-03 [Annie]: I hope you'll decide to do it again this year. :) I'm also pretty overloaded with work and school, so I won't hate myself if I can't finish this year, but still fun to give it a go. :)

2011-10-03 [Veltzeh]: I think I can make it if I draw a bunch of odd Pathfinder character ideas. :D Halfling paladin, I'm looking at you.

2011-10-03 [Annie]: Haha

2011-10-04 [Ash]: Veltzeh, I saw people draw stick figures with capes last year for 30c30d. I think you'll be fine...

2011-10-04 [Veltzeh]: It's more of a matter to fulfill my own criteria which are that a character is more than what I can draw. They have personalities and backgrounds that don't show in an image. :)

2011-10-05 [Ash]: Well, a lot of the stick figures had little stories with them. I think I may do 30c/30d as well, but I have to see how far I can work ahead in my fanfictions. I need to be four chapters ahead by the time I get to November, if I do, I'll probably do 30c30d.

2011-10-19 [Product of a Primal Urge]: So not long now. Who's ready for this??

2011-10-19 [Annie]: I'm getting there! :P Still no idea what to write about yet.

2011-10-19 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Ooh, good luck! I'm looking forward to it, but also a little dread. So much to do in November on top of NaNo! :D Should be fun.

2011-10-19 [Ash]: I'm totally ready, I have to have it all written by nov 10th though. Skyrim comes out on the 11th... It's very possible you won't see me for two weeks after it comes out.

2011-10-20 [Annie]: I'm looking forward to that too--if they release on time. >.< But then again I can't afford it for awhile anyway...being poor isn't fun. :/
So are you going to abandon your NaNo support page then Ash..?

2011-10-22 [Annie]: I got my idea! Super happy to have one that I actually came up with all on my own and am actually slightly interested in. ^_^

2011-10-22 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Yay [Annie]! It is a great feeling to have a subject. I've got mine mostly planned out. Actually, it came from a fanfiction I wrote XP

2011-10-25 [Ash]: I do have to share the game... I'll still be on here, i've got my chapters plotted out finally :)

2011-11-01 [Annie]: Woooooo! Day 1!

2011-11-01 [Ash]: I'm on 800 words... and still going!

2011-11-02 [Annie]: Wrote by hand during class today and too tired to type it and get my word total, but I got a bunch done--I'll update in the morning.

2011-11-02 [Ash]: Woot, I'm ahead then.

2011-11-03 [Annie]: Again...got more done tonight but too tired to type it. Update in the morning!

2011-11-03 [Ash]: Good job everyone! Keep up the work! Don't forget your daily logs!

2011-11-03 [Ash]: DAY 3 WORD COUNT: 5,001

2011-11-03 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Sounds like a good goal :D Good luck!

2011-11-03 [Ash]: That's what you're supposed to be at when day threes over. 1,667 words a day.

2011-11-03 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Oh oooh oh. :D Haha. That's why I'm an English major >.<

2011-11-04 [Annie]: Haha :)

2011-11-04 [Annie]: Made it a little further yesterday. :) Some more to type up today.

2011-11-04 [Ash]: Good job everyone! This is day four, you need to be close to 6,668 words today!

2011-11-06 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Ugh, only 891 today. Dinner then more typing, which will go to tomorrow's count. Oh well.

2011-11-06 [Annie]: You're doing really great Primal!

2011-11-06 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Thank you :D I just happened to have a weekend without much homework. Those are rare. Plot's a little scattered in my head though. How's yours coming along story-line wise, [Annie]?

2011-11-06 [Annie]: Haha, that's a good thing. Unfortunately my weekend and next week are jam-packed with studying and tests. Not the greatest time for NaNo, but life goes on! I'm feeling pretty good about my plot/story line. I wasn't expecting an idea to come up before NaNo started, I thought I'd just have to wing it like I usually do. I also wasn't expecting for my idea to be so conducive to a plot...but I pretty much always know where to take the story next. It's much easier than previous NaNo ideas! Too bad I don't have more time to write!

2011-11-07 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Ugh, yeah time is really bad. That's awesome that you've got a plot line going! Interesting that you normally don't. I'm not very good with winging it. I would quit half-way through V.v Probably less than half-way through!

2011-11-07 [Annie]: Haha, ya...I'm just not very good at coming up with ideas for stories, that's why I don't usually have a plot. I'm more of a nonfiction/creative nonfiction writer. NaNo doesn't really leave room for nonfiction though so I sometimes have a hard time.

2011-11-07 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Ah yeah, I mean you can be a 'rebel' on there and do non-fiction right? For me, it's the other way. I have a lot of ideas for plot but getting it all done is a pain.

2011-11-08 [Ash]: I've been working constantly, this is the first time in days I get to write... Ugh, I'm so far behind.

2011-11-08 [Ash]: DAY 7: 11669 words

2011-11-08 [Annie]: You're not the only one! >.<

2011-11-09 [Annie]: Ouch, 5000 words behind. Too bad I have two exams this week >.<

2011-11-14 [Annie]: You're doing awesome Primal! I'm terribly behind.

2011-11-14 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Oh, thank you :D I'm going to try and get just above the mark today. My boyfriend is already a few K past the half-way point. I'm really proud of him but also a little annoyed! And I'm sure you can catch up [Annie]! And even if you're not able, just keep going and see where you end up at the end. When my computer went down for a few days I thought I wouldn't be able to catch up and I did.

There, I suppose that's a mini-pep talk!!

2011-11-14 [Annie]: Haha :P Well, I wrote a lot today that I need to type. Hopefully I'll get at least 3000 words out of it...crossing my fingers. I threw some drama in to get me writing more, seems to have worked pretty well. :)

2011-11-14 [Annie]: Got my 3,000 words or so out of the writing so far today...we'll see if I can do anymore. I still have to study!

2011-11-14 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Congrats! And yes, drama always helps :D Good luck with your studying.

2011-11-24 [Ash]: I'm glad you all are doing well, I however have some bad news. About Nov 6, my laptop died. The battery will no longer sustain any charge and due to this even the power cord cannot make it work. Two days later, my desktop's hard drive died. We are looking to get it replaced soon. Later that same day, my boyfriend's computer (which already had the 'f' key not working) broke, one of the hinges came completely off the the other one is really trying to break free. On top of that, four more key's gave way and only work selectively now. I'm on my mom's computer right now, but I won't be on that often. Needless to say, my Nano didn't get far off the ground because of this. After Christmas Al and I will have a new laptop, a present from his dad, so I promise I'll be on more as soon as we get it. Sorry to kind of die off but I can barely find time to get my school work in as I can't always have this computer when I need it.

2011-11-24 [Annie]: Totally understandable, good luck!

2011-11-24 [Veltzeh]: How about if you remove the battery altogether and use the power cord alone? That way it should work, I think.

2011-11-24 [Annie]: I've beem doing that for years >.<

2011-11-25 [Ash]: I've tried that a couple of times before, but mines an old model like 8 years old or more, it needs the battery to boot, which is dumb, but whatever. Al's dad bought us a Viao last night while we were over there so I may be able to start writing again, which would be nice as I've had people complaining that I haven't updated in a while.

2011-11-25 [Annie]: We've missed you here at NaNo support :)

2011-12-02 [Ash]: Good news is I'm back, the day after it's over... We got it last night and did the recovery discs today. Yay, I'm back! :D

Anyway, I'm hopefully going to be starting a new story soon as my NaNo didn't get off the ground. I'm not sure whether to make it a comic or not... I'm getting to the point where I think I could...

2011-12-02 [Annie]: Yay! :) I didn't make it unfortunately...

2012-11-01 [Ash]: I hope some of you come back and do NaNo this year.

2012-11-02 [Veltzeh]: Whoo! I'm participating, and with a real story this time.

2012-11-03 [Ash]: Yeah! Someone else is doing it with me! I'm not going at it alone!

2012-11-08 [Veltzeh]: My word count has exploded. O_o I had no idea I could actually write that much this fast.

2012-11-08 [Veltzeh]: Also, somebody from the local big newspaper wanted to do a story on NaNoWriMo, so a reporter came to interview a bunch of us in a writer meeting today!

2012-11-09 [Ash]: I've been watching your word count on NaNo, you've exploded into words! :) It's better to be far ahead then any other thing. It's cool that they did a story on it, NaNo is really encouraging for a lot of people. :)

2012-11-09 [Veltzeh]: My wordcount on the site is doubled since I'm only aiming for the 25000 words... but even then it's a lot! X)

2012-11-10 [Ash]: Why are you aiming for 25,000? I'm aiming for 50k for the month and then would like to finish it out around 75 to 100k. We have a local publisher in town I was going to look into and a finished full novel would be nice to send to them.

2012-11-10 [Veltzeh]: I thought I wouldn't have the time to write more at all. Turns out I was totally wrong. >_>

2012-11-14 [Ash]: Then go for it! Put in your regular word count and pump out that 50k! Your already at 27,787 according to my calculator. You're 4k ahead (two days) of the NaNo curve. You can blow the word count out of the water.

2012-11-14 [Veltzeh]: I might still run into a big block! X) But maybe I will...

2012-11-15 [Ash]: What you do is you get to 50k in real life then change it on NaNoWriMo. :)

2012-11-21 [Veltzeh]: So, it's really hard to remember to update... >_>

2012-11-23 [Ash]: Yea, I'm not updating that often either... I'm also eight thousand behind right now... Ugh. I'm going to be busy today and tomorrow catching up.

2012-11-23 [Veltzeh]: Almost!

2012-11-25 [Veltzeh]: So many words...

2012-11-30 [Veltzeh]: Phew! I am done. :)

2012-11-30 [Ash]: I just finished 20 minutes ago! I won with a count of 50,523! Yea!

2012-11-30 [Veltzeh]: Whoo! Congratulations!

2012-12-01 [Ash]: Thanks :) I'm going to print off my cert and hang it on the wall

2012-12-01 [Veltzeh]: I'll just save mine on the computer. X)
